The UK government has worked hard to drive developments in the world of data and technology, recognising data as “critical to delivering many essential services”. Other countries are also pioneering this new technology. For example, Finland recently developed Kanta, a national patient data depository covering all citizens records in private and public healthcare. Understanding developments in other countries will introduce new ideas and debate around how better outcomes can be achieved.

Reform was delighted to host this roundtable, led by Liisa-Maria Voipio-Pulkki, Director General, Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health, to discuss where similar issues lie, and how solutions from abroad can be adapted to suit UK needs. The roundtable was held under the Chatham House Rule.
