Harnessing the power of technology to build a green health and care system

Thursday 17th June 2021, 15:00
- 16:00

In October 2020, NHS England set out bold plans to become the world’s first carbon net zero health system, acknowledging that as the UK’s largest employer, responsible for around 4 per cent of the nation’s emissions, the NHS must be a major part of the solution on climate change.

As set out in Greener NHS’s recent report ‘Delivering a Net Zero National Health Service’, innovative usage of new technology will be necessary for greening the NHS and the wider health and care sector. This panel discussion will provide an opportunity to discuss the ways in which technology can play a crucial role in building a sustainable care system.

Confirmed panellists include:

  • Sonia Patel, Chief Information Officer, NHSX
  • Vanessa Miller-Fels, Director of Energy Innovation and Impact, Microsoft
  • Chair: Sebastian Rees, Researcher, Reform
