The Government’s announcement of an extra £20 billion a year in NHS spending has reignited the debate on how best to deliver outstanding healthcare for the citizens of the UK. Prevention is a pivotal idea: according to the Secretary of State for Health, “only with better prevention can our NHS be sustainable in the long term”. There is a wealth of evidence to build on, from vaccination to lifestyle choices to modern innovations such as predictive medicines. The result will be a major contribution to what Dame Sally Davies has called a “culture for health”, taking the NHS into a new era.

Reform is delighted to host this panel discussion, led by Professor Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health and Social Care to explore how everyone in society can contribute to the prevention of ill health. This event will bring together around 100 attendees, including senior policy-makers, public service leaders and business leaders.
