The Politics and Priorities for Post-Pandemic Britain

Tuesday 14th December 2021, 17:00
- 19:30

The event will mark two years since the Conservative Party’s landslide victory. The Government’s agenda to date has been dominated by COVID-19, but as the new parliamentary year kicks into gear, the Government is pressing ahead with its domestic agenda.

We will be joined by Rt Hon Baroness Nicky Morgan of Cotes, Dame Meg Hillier MP, Charlotte Ivers, Times Radio Political Correspondent and Sunday Times columnist, and Kelly Beaver, Chief Executive of Ipsos MORI.

The Budget and SR have set the spending envelope for the rest of this Parliament. In the next few months, we’re expecting white papers laying out the Government’s delivery plans for ‘Levelling Up’ and social care. But as the Government looks to deliver against its key manifesto pledges, it will simultaneously be grappling with the ongoing fallout from COVID, a cost of living crisis, worker shortages and tough decisions on how to achieve Net Zero. Meanwhile tensions remain about how to appeal to both red and blue wall voters, and the polls have narrowed despite the Opposition seemingly struggling to cut through with voters.
